Energy Patterns for February 2005

Major Waveform Patterns:

Feb 1st to the 5th -- a continuation of the end of January transition.
Feb 6th to the 14th -- one huge and dramatic storm.
Feb 15th to the 17th -- the calm after the storm.
Feb 18th to the 21st -- harsh, but moderate energies.
Feb 22nd to the end of the month -- a very complex and changeable pattern.

An online ephemeris for the month is available.

February has a couple of significant planetary storms triggered by the passage of the faster moving planets past the heavy hitting outer planets. When the storms hit, they pack quite a punch, though you may not exactly know what it was that hit you. These storms are separated by the usual low energy transition periods when nothing much is happening in the sky. Fortunately, the storms never (well, almost never) reach truly overwhelming proportions, making it a bit easier to assimilate their influences. It appears there are 5 distinct energy patterns to investigate this month.

Feb 1st to the 5th

The 1st to the 5th is a weak and fractured looking waveform that acts as a transition period between the huge storm of late January and the big storm of this month. The energy levels are pretty lame, ranging from 325 units (comatose) to 413 units (merely weak) in strength. The harmonics include H48, H4 and H12 -- generally scattered and difficult energies. When the waveform gets its act together, the areas of greatest emphasis include 3 to 6, 14 to 17 and 22 to 26 degrees of each zodiac sign. There are a number of separate events going on now that will influence us, but none of them really dominate the landscape much. Jupiter is standing still on the 1st, starting a 4 month retrograde period. The Sun is going over Neptune on the 3rd, which makes for a dreamy and unfocused outlook, highly senstive, but unresponsive at the same time. Finally, the Moon and Mercury wake up the lingering Mars-Pluto conjunction, which could generate some harsh and disturbing effects in the world. All told, it's a good time to kick back and not get too involved in any demanding situations. Wait until the energies come together in the coming storm if you want a clear idea of how best to proceed.

Feb 6th to the 14th

The 6th to the 14th is the major storm pattern this month. The waveform grows in strength overall, ranging from 346 units (near the beginning and ending of the pattern) to a powerful Koz Alert of 530 units on the 13th. The harmonics consist of H6, H12 and H24 -- on the positive end of the scale, but with a few bumpy spots at times. The points of emphasis include 21 to 23 degrees (actually, the taller peaks drift from 19 to 26 degrees over the life of the storm) and 6 degrees of each sign -- check where this hits your own birthchart! This week contains the bulk of the action for February and you'll probably feel it when it's all over. This storm has a kind of split personality. The first half is dominated by planets like , Uranus and Neptune, giving it a more lighthearted mood. The second half, however, is geared more towards Saturn, Uranus and Pluto, a distinctly harsher combination of planets. Regardless of the planets behind this wave, it's a big wave any way you look at it. Expect life to be fast paced and a bit on the "out of control" side. It's best to make your plans early and then adjust them on the fly as circumstances shift under you. Again, realize there are deep forces at work that none of us really understand -- leave room for the unexpected.

The height of this storm occurs on the 12th and 13th. Most of the aspects going off in quick succession now involve Pluto, including the final quintile of Uranus and Pluto on the 12th. There is always a heavy undertow with Pluto energies, as though the unconscious mind is sucking you into situations you hadn't intended to look at. Ignoring such situations and trying to pretend they aren't affecting you is of no use whatsoever, since Pluto loves to "get you" if you turn your back on him. It's better to face the music and handle these issues head on. While this sometimes involves dealing with matters in the outer world (which frequently can get messy if harsh emotions are involved), quite often it requires you to go within and seek out the disturbance in your own life. It's almost funny how outer problems usually start as inner discontentment of some kind, an urge to "do something" that you can't put your finger on. Take the time to put your own affairs in order first and then see what's left over. This is a powerful week or so. Put it to good use and don't become your own biggest obstacle.

Feb 15th to the 17th

The 15th to the 17th is a brief transition period after the storm as life falls back into a more sustainable pace. The waveform cools off to the 338 to 429 unit range -- considerably quieter. The harmonics are a mixture of H48 and a "fat H24" -- life seems rougher, more scattered, a bit stressful for all the calm. Points of emphasis include 5, 18 and 25 degrees of each sign. There's not much action in this brief period except for the trioctile of Saturn and Uranus which forms the backbone of the next storm. Here's two planets that tug us in opposing directions, simultaneously forcing us to face reality and see through its snares at the same time. It's one of those "between a rock and a hard place" kind of aspects. Take it easy for a few days -- we'll feel these effects more acutely in the next period. For now, you may just want to crawl under a rock.

Feb 18th to the 21st

The 18th to the 21st is a milder storm that brings out the full extent of the trioctile. The waveform strengthens slightly, ranging from 325 to 466 units. The harmonics consist of mostly H24 and H6 -- somewhat difficult, but with a silver lining. The peaks are focused at 21 and 6 degrees of each sign. Venus, Mercury and the Moon are combining with Saturn and Uranus to bring home the message of the trioctile to everyday life. I don't know which to tell you: keep your nose to the grindstone or else blow it up. There's probably a little of both approaches going on. Just realize that the intuitive mind is incredibly active these days. No matter what happens in the outer world, you need to listen to the inner world as well. Just remember in all your work, both physical and mental, that details matter as well as the big picture. This could actually be a useful period if you put in the elbow grease, even if things don't go smoothly.

Feb 22nd to the end of the month

Finally, the 22nd to the end of the month is a kind of strong transition period, dominated by a square of Jupiter and Saturn. The energies are quite moderate in strength, bouncing between 324 and 434 units. The harmonics are an incredibly complex and ever changing mixture of H48, H4, H8, H24, H12 and even some H36 at times -- your guess is as good as mine when it comes to making sense of this mess. The main peaks are around 5 to 8, 16 to 20 and 25 degrees of each sign. The Sun is taking another swipe at the trioctile as it goes over Uranus on the 25th, while Jupiter also perks up some. It may not feel like life is easy, but it will seem more upbeat than the previous period. At the very least, things will be more lively and unexpected, which can be a pleasant influence if you're comfortable with novel situations. This pattern continues into early March for a few days.
