There's a little bit of everything in the waveforms this October. We seem to be getting into a cycle of storms followed by transitional periods, but it seems to be difficult to really get things organized most of the time. Partly this is due to the split in the outer planet picture. There's one group around 0-2 degrees of several zodiac signs, focusing mainly on Saturn and Neptune, with help from Jupiter. The other group, centered around 5-7 degrees, is driven by Uranus, Pluto and Chiron. These two groups are close enough to conspire from time to time, but far enough apart that they sometimes act at cross purposes. You can see this tug-of-war going on in the waveforms, with the taller peaks often split into two distinct spikes. It seems there are 5 distinct energies to examine.

The 1st to the 9th is the most distinct and powerful storm all month. The waveform varies in strength from a wimpy 364 units to a spectacular Koz Alert of 582 units on the 4th -- pretty solid, if not overwhelming energies most of the period. The harmonics consist of H12, H24 and H48 -- generally positive and constructive, but life will throw you a curve now and then. The energies are most focused at 29-2 (across the boundaries between signs), 4-6 and 22 degrees of each zodiac sign; the first two regions correspond to the two groups of outer planets. Check your own birth chart to see where these hot spots hit you. This period is not only when the energies are most intense, but it's also when many of the big changes this month happen. Between the Jupiter station on the 4th, and back-to-back sign changes for Saturn and Mars on the 5th and 6th, there are major qualitative shifts in how the energy feels and how it affects our lives. Saturn's entrance into Scorpio late on the 5th is an important time. Pay attention to any new story lines that enter your life around this time. Saturn works slowly (taking 2-3years to pass through a sign) but persistently, so you may be dealing with any issue that kicks up now for quite some time. It may be hard to utilize this turbulent energy constructively, particularly since the "foundations" are shifting rapidly, but make the effort anyway. These are some of the most positive energies all month.
There's a big storm pattern kicking in late on the 3rd which reaches its full strength on the morning of the 4th. The bulk of this pattern consists of a Grand Cross with opposite Venus and Moon opposite Mars. Mercury, Saturn and Ceres are also in the picture, forming a Grand Trine with Neptune. What a complicated pattern! It's interesting how many of these bodies are associated with heart energy, so heated emotions may be surfacing. The first presidential debate occurs as this storm is building, so the media will be abuzz analyzing every little nuance of the event. The Mars end of the Cross is on Romney's Moon-Jupiter conjunction, which is also Obama's midheaven; other of their natal planets are also connected. It sounds like there might actually be some news to report, with repercussions for the candidates. It will be an intriguing couple of news cycles.

The 10th to the 15th is weak and disorganized, a time when the potent storm energies take a rest. The waveform cools off to the 322 to 414 unit region, weak to moderate intensity levels. The harmonics are mostly H12, H48 and H24 -- still useful, but with its share of distractions and detours. The emphasized degrees are 29-1, 4-6, 16 and 10 degrees of each sign. Much of this energy is leftovers from some Uranus-Pluto action at the end of the storm, triggered by Mercury and Mars. Otherwise, there's not much happening now. If you're stressed out (and who isn't?), remember to stop and inhale deeply occasionally. (I know better than to tell people to "take some time off" anymore.) The annoyances now are mostly "small stuff", so don't take it too seriously. The energies feel jittery and chaotic, a symptom of how the outer planets are changing basic realities at a deep level. Recharge your batteries and get ready for coming rounds of activity.

The 16th to the 22nd is mostly a weak and volatile storm. The waveform varies from 319 to 445 units, still weak to moderate levels. The harmonics include H24, H4 and H48, so this time will be more difficult and challenging than before. The areas of emphasis are 15-17, 5-7, 29-1 and 21-23 degrees, pretty much spread all over. This period starts out with Mercury and Venus kicking Jupiter and Saturn (just past their trioctile on the 15th) into action and ends with Mercury talking to Uranus and Pluto. The contest between the two outer planet groups is quite undecided yet. You can expect the energies to start out mild and reasonable, gradually turning more intense and unusual. It's probably a good time for some mental work, although you'll probably be of two minds about any issue of importance. Don't jump to any premature conclusions when doubts and confusions are so close to the surface.

The 23rd to the 26th is mostly a transition time, although the waveform hangs together better than you might expect. The waveform is still weak to moderate strength, in the 333 to 447 region. The harmonics consist of a fat H12, with some H48 and H24 -- mostly good, prone to distractions and setbacks, hard to get organized. The peaks are focused at 0-3 and 17 degrees. Most of the activity during this brief time involves the Sun triggering Saturn, Neptune and Jupiter. There are conflicting tendencies going on now with the Dreamer and the Realist vying for attention. It's a good time to dream big, but keep in mind that dreams require hard work and help from others before they come true. If anything, the scales are tilted towards the hard and disciplined work, so be reasonable about what you can get done now. Keep your eye on the prize.

Finally, the 27th to the end of the month is a noisy storm that seems to fall short most of the time. The waveform is in the 390 to 531 unit range, more strength than we've seen in about 3 weeks. The harmonics are mostly H4, H12, H24 and H48 -- a bit on the rough side. The energy is strongest at 0-3 and 17 degrees of each sign. There's a little bit of everything going on these days. Mercury and Venus are joining up with Saturn and Neptune. Meanwhile, the Sun is impacting Uranus and Pluto. I'd say the former is the more prominent influence. You may be pulled in conflicting directions, so ride the tides as best you can. Traditionally, the 31st is the day when "the veils to the otherworld are thinnest" and it's easiest to tune into more subtle realms. With all these outer planets whispering in our ears, they may be thinner than we can imagine. Take some time to be still and listen...
