Feb 1st to the 3rd -- a noisy, transition period.
Feb 4th to the 11th -- the major storm kicks in big time.

Feb 21st to the 25th -- harsher, but a little quieter.
Feb 26th to the end of the month -- running out of steam.
An online ephemeris for the month is available.
As the outer planet pattern we've been tracking for many months now starts to break up, the tendency for the waveforms to create powerful, well-formed storms is seriously inhibited. The typical cycle of storms and transition periods gives way to long periods of moderate energy that drift along without amounting to much. The clue that distinguishes one energy pattern from another is usually a subtle shift in harmonics rather than changes in intensity. Harmonic shifts are easy to overlook, giving the easy impression of one long storm period that doesn't change in character or mood very much. There appear to be roughly 5 distinct periods to discuss, although the timing of these shifts is somewhat ambiguous.
Feb 1st to the 3rd |
The 1st to the 3rd is a quiet, disorganized transition period. The waveform varies in strength from 338 to 434 units -- not much "oomph!" going on now! The harmonics are a messy mixture of H48 and H12 -- it's hard to focus on anything or stick to a work plan. The energies are mostly focused at 28, 7-8, 22 and 1 degree of each zodiac sign, pretty much scattered all over. This period is a bit of an anomaly, with a pattern that consists of Pluto and the quicker planets Mercury, Venus and Mars joined by rather testy aspects. Venus-Mars combinations are frequently love and romance influences, though the role of Pluto can bring out a more steamy, complicated plot line. Relationships can be tricky during energies like this. Keep talking with others to defuse (hopefully!) trouble. As fleeting as this period is, things will blow over quickly.
Feb 4th to the 11th |
The 4th to the 11th is the first part of what passes for a storm pattern this month. The waveform ranges from 359 to 526 units, a low Koz Alert -- these are the most powerful energies all month. The harmonics include H12, H24 and H48 -- the mood is generally stressful and demanding. The areas of emphasis are 0-2 and 22 degrees of each zodiac sign. The rise of this storm is marked by the appearance of a prominent 24th harmonic. You usually see H24 when there are a large number of planets connected by difficult aspects. Indeed, there are several groupings to look at. There's a fan pattern (built on 45 degree aspects) of Venus-Uranus, Sun-Mercury and Pluto that is active for over a week (the 6th to the 15th). This is disruptive on so many levels, especially in terms of challenging your thoughts and opinions as well as stirring up agitated emotions. On the 10th, the Moon is opposite Venus-Uranus and ties in with Neptune and Jupiter to form a Yod. The imagination should be quite active around this time as the "inner world" takes on great importance. It's a good time to be alone and take in the show inwardly, as running around with other people could be overwhelming. Saturn is standing still on the 7th -- maybe that will slow us down a bit.
The day after the full moon is the strongest waveform all month, a low level Koz Alert that reaches up to 526 units. The Moon is opposite Neptune around now; all told, about half the planets feed into this complex pattern. There's a mixture of easy going and stressful harmonics here, so you're both busy and distracted by what's happening around you. You can actually accomplish a lot today, if you know how to handle the disruptions. If not, the energies are calmer from here on -- you get another chance.
Feb 12th to the 20th |
The 12th to the 20th is part 2 of the storm. The waveform is calmer, ranging from 345 to 457 units. The harmonics consist of a fat H12, H48 and some H24 -- the vibes are a wee bit more constructive than before. The energies are focused at 0-5, 8-10 and 28 degrees. The main trigger planet these days is Mercury, so the thinking mind is especially active now. Pay attention to unusual ideas or images that come to you -- see where they lead your thoughts. Mercury's conjunction with Neptune is particularly important in this regard, as this contact not only helps anchor Neptune in its new home, but is a powerful stimulant to the imagination. Too bad the overall pattern is so disorganized (look at those fat, noisy peaks!) -- it saps the positive qualities of this energy.
As mentioned earlier, the big outer planet pattern we've been watching for the last year seems to be falling apart, yet there's still enough "oomph!" here to keep a moderate amount of energy going for 3 weeks. The differences during this time are due to the trigger planets changing. When the storm first kicked in around the 4th, Venus (our feeling nature) was the personal connection to all the outer planets. About the 11th or 12th, the harmonics shift dramatically (more H12, less H24 -- much easier to handle!) as Mercury (the thinking mind) takes over as it passes over Neptune on the 14th. By the 18th, the Sun (sense of self) has center stage through the remainder of the storm. As your mood and focus change during the month, much of the reason is due to this parade of trigger planets, your antennas for bringing in the storm energies. Enjoy all the various points of view they provide you.
Feb 21st to the 25th |
The 21st to the 25th is the final leg of the storm. Moderate energies prevail still, with the waveform in the 354 to 488 unit region. The harmonics are nearly a pure H24 with a touch of noise -- agitated and stressful. The peak areas are 1-5 and 17-19 degrees. The major trigger planet during this time is the Sun. Mercury, Venus and Mars are forming their own little group on the side (around the 22nd and 23rd). As you start to assimilate all these outer planet influences, it has the effect of changing you in subtle ways that are hard to describe. It's mainly a feeling of being a different kind of person than your were before, lighter, less concerned with mundane matters. With the other inner planets in their own group, you can feel somewhat disconnected from the everyday world. Try to keep your feet on the ground, though I doubt it will be much of an issue if your head is off in the clouds instead. New projects may catch your interest after the new moon on the 21st.
Feb 26th to the end of the month |
Finally, the 26th to the end of the month is mostly a quiet, noisy transition time as the storm dissipates. The waveform settles down into the 328 to 444 unit range -- pretty anemic. The harmonics are a complex mix of H6, H48, H12 and some noise -- the energies would be a lot more constructive if they weren't so scattered. The peaks are concentrated at 5-9 and 24-28 degrees. OK, so the storm doesn't fall apart completely, but it is certainly less intense and focused. There's not much in the way of aspect activity going on, so this brief period may seem rather uneventful. Catch your breath -- the storms will regroup shortly as we head into March.
