Jan 1st to the 8th -- a weak and tempermental storm.
Jan 9th to the 17th -- the main high energy period of the month.
Jan 18th to the 26th -- the waveform's slowing down and breaking up.
Jan 27th to the 29th -- time for a breather.
Jan 30th to the end of the month -- start of the next storm.
An online ephemeris for the month is available.
The energy patterns in January go through a large number of shifts, though the transitions from one pattern to the next are often vague and ill-defined. The storms are moderate enough that we aren't constantly being knocked out of equilibrium, the transition periods rarely a total meltdown. Most of the activity involves the potent outer planet pattern (mostly Neptune, Chiron, Jupiter, Uranus and a ever-changing cast of faster moving planets) that has been a constant feature of our lives since last May; this pattern will slowly fall apart in coming months. I see roughly 5 distinct energy patterns this month.
Jan 1st to the 8th |
The 1st to the 8th is a weak, on-again/off-again kind of storm. The waveform varies in strength from 382 to 509 units (on the 5th) -- generally moderate energy, with occasional bursts of power. The harmonics these days include H6, H12, H4, H48 and H24, a complex mixture of constructive and challenging frequencies that step on each other's toes. The energies are mostly focused at 24-28 and 16 degrees of each zodiac sign -- check your own birth chart to see where this hits you. It's the Sun, Moon (especially at the eclipse on the 4th) and Venus that are triggering the outer planets into action; Saturn is on the fringes of this pattern. For all the ragged appearance of this waveform, this is actually one of the most active and influential periods this month, a good way to kick off the new year. The 4th is particularly action packed. Not only do we have the eclipse, but a few hours later Jupiter and Uranus are conjunct, in a tight square (90 degrees apart) to the Galactic Center. That's a lot of high, mental energy that opens up the intuition to some expansive spiritual inputs. Take these energies in now; figure out how to shape it and channel it as the month proceeds.
Jan 9th to the 17th |
The 9th to the 17th is a strong, well-defined storm pattern, the biggest impact on us during January. The waveform is in the 408 to 560 unit range, moderate to intense power levels. The harmonics are mostly H12, H6 and H48 -- generally positive and useful, but somewhat scattered. The areas of emphasis are 26-28, 16 and 5 degrees of each sign. The outer planets are accentuated in turn by Mercury, then Mars and finally the Sun, an intriguing succession of reactions to the big picture. If you get some brilliant ideas early in the week, attempt to put them into action and then stand back and see what the results might be. There's plenty of nonstop aspects to keep us busy -- don't just sit on this energy, use it!
This waveform is the high point of the storm. It features a giant fan-shaped pattern of at least 8 planets and asteroids every 30 degrees in the 27-29 degree region of each zodiac sign. The fan is easily seen in the waveform as all those tall, thin peaks in the graph. Life is fast paced and crazy today, so hit the ground running and don't look back. It's going to be a long, eventful week...
Jan 18th to the 26th |
The 18th to the 26th shows the big storm losing steam and gradually falling apart. The waveform is in the 335 to 474 unit range, weak to moderate levels. The harmonics consist of H24, H48 and H6 -- more friction and difficulty than during the main storm. The focal points are 28-30 degrees (right at the end of zodiac signs), 4-6 and 16 degrees. The outer planets are remarkably quiet for a change. In fact, Saturn and Pluto seem to be the bodies most affecting us. Stay calm and focused on simple everyday problems for a while. In fact, since Saturn is coming to its station on the 26th, you may find the problems will seek you out first. Pick your battles wisely.
Jan 27th to the 29th |
The 27th to the 29th is about as low energy as we get this month. The intensity range is 341 to 422 units, hardly any "oomph!" worth mentioning. The harmonics are H48, H24 and some miscellaneous noise -- life is scattered, unfocused, out of sorts. The hot spots are 25-28 and 7-10 degrees. There's not much going on in the sky these days, so there's no planetary tailwind to support your efforts. Transition period rules apply, so kick back and relax to the extent life allows, giving yourself a chance to recharge your reserves. Enjoy the reprieve.
Jan 30th to the end of the month |
Finally, the 30th and 31st are the first symptoms of the next planetary storm. The waveform is picking up steam again, reaching the 395 to 467 region. The harmonics are mostly H24, H4 and a touch of H48 -- tension and stress are in the air. The points of emphasis are 26-27 and 12 degrees. This storm is still gathering strength as we head into February, with pretty much all the faster moving planets moving into position with the outer ones. The Moon and Venus are particularly active, so you might feel more moody or sensitive than usual. Start gearing up for some new projects in early February, especially after the new moon on Feb 2. Don't expect things to go particularly smoothly however, since many of these aspects are the difficult and conflict-filled kind. Pace yourself...
