Energy Patterns for January 2010

Major Waveform Patterns:

Jan 1st to the 8th -- weak and scattered start to 2010.
Jan 9th to the 18th -- the Neptune half of the big storm.
Jan 19th to the 26th -- storm part 2, with Pluto.
Jan 27th to the end of the month -- losing steam quickly.

An online ephemeris for the month is available.

The waveforms in January go through a typical progression of building up from nothing into a long, two act storm pattern before dissipating again. One of the big "aspect makers" to watch for this month is the Sun-Venus conjunction. They are never more than 5 degrees apart, so their movement across Capricorn and Aquarius tends to kick background patterns (the remainder of the Neptune knot and the Saturn-Pluto group) into action one after another. Early in the month, they are joined by Mercury as well, so all the faster planets (except Mars) are part of this trigger early on. Keep this trigger group in mind as we examine the 4 energy patterns this month.

Jan 1st to the 8th

The 1st to 8th is rather weak and scattered in appearance, a bit stronger than the average transition period perhaps. The waveform varies in strength from 330 to 478 units of strength, mild to moderate in their effect on us. The harmonics are a messy mixture of H48, H6, H24, H4 and who knows what else, a really confused combination with no real direction. The energies are most concentrated at 15-18 and 10-12 degrees of each zodiac sign. As the new year checks in, we're in a bit of a daze, not really sure which direction we're headed in or whether another path might be better for us. The trigger planets are loosely connecting with the remnants of the Neptune knot group. The knot has never been an easy influence to handle, even after 9 months. It's not that it's difficult or negative energy. If anything, it's too dreamy, ethereal and ungrounded for us, and after awhile all this unreality makes people more than a little crazy. It doesn't help that Mercury is backing up these days as well -- we have no useful critical thinking skills to keep the craziness in check. Slow down, back away from being swept up emotionally in "problems", pay attention when things don't make sense. It takes a very clear vision to see through the illusions now.

Jan 9th to the 18th

The 9th to the 18th is the first act of the storm. The waveform has intensity levels of 358 to 511 units, a brief Koz Alert that should get our attention. The harmonics consist of H6, H12, H24, H4 and some H48 noise -- still a confused mess, but the more positive frequencies seem to be coming out ahead. The main peaks drift from 22 to 26 degrees of each sign during this time, with a secondary set of peaks at 2-4 degrees -- the knot and Saturn-Pluto respectively. The trigger planets are hitting the Neptune group much more firmly this time around, especially around the new moon on the 15th, which is a solar eclipse. Mercury goes direct shortly after the lunation, so the thinking mind is of little use right now. At its best, this is a highly "spiritualized" time, full of potential for all sorts of higher insights. On the other hand, it's easy to be sidetracked by distractions of little worth and it's not always simple to tell the difference. As mentioned earlier, keep your feet on the ground to avoid being swept away. Being sensible and down to earth may not sound like fun, but it's helpful when the outer planets are active. Don't forget that Jupiter moves into Pisces on the 17th.

Jan 19th to the 26th

The 19th to the 26th is the second act of the storm. The waveform is somewhat tamer, ranging from 357 to 499 units -- moderately strong. The harmonics are mostly H12 and H48 -- generally good connections between bad-ass planets. The main peaks drift from 2 to 10 degrees of each sign during this period, following the trigger planets. As the peaks in the storm continue to drift, Neptune and friends are left behind and Saturn-Pluto takes command as the Sun and Venus bring them to prominence. Now that Jupiter is in Pisces, he's changing teams, which might actually soften some of the bite of Saturn and Pluto. These two will never be known as warm and cuddly, but this might be as soft and fuzzy as they will be for many months. It's time for a reality check after the eclipse, so get your head out of the clouds. Hard work now pays off down the road.

Jan 27th to the end of the month

Finally, the 27th to the end of the month is the end of the storm and the start of a messy transition period. The waveform cools off rapidly, hitting only 333 to 441 units these days. The harmonics include H48, H6, H8 and some H2 in the background -- scattered, sometimes helpful, sometimes not. The areas of emphasis are 9-13, 25 and 3 degrees -- pretty much all over. There's a curious pattern that matures at the full moon. The Sun and Venus are opposite the Moon and Mars, a really remarkable picture of sexual or gender energies in dynamic tension that could easily spill over into love relationships. Throw in Uranus (by octile aspects) and you get a rather erratic, even explosive mixture. Of course, if lovers surf these waves well, that can be an exciting mixture. Above all, have some fun now and then! Life has been hard lately and we have to make time to celebrate occasionally. Of course, the Saturn-Pluto square crashes the party on the 31st, but don't let it spoil your mood. Maybe February will be an improvement...
