Aug 1st and 2nd -- the leftovers of a late July storm.
Aug 3rd to the 8th -- a low intensity transition period.
Aug 9th to the 13th -- building up to the big storm.
Aug 14th to the 24th -- a powerful outer planet storm!
Aug 25th to the 28th -- a brief shift to Pluto energy.
Aug 29th to the end of the month -- quieting down.
An online ephemeris for the month is available.
In very gross terms, August is rather simple. It's quiet for the first 2 weeks and then all hell breaks loose the rest of the month. The details are a bit more complicated, which is probably why I wound up with 6 separate patterns in my notes. However, once the Koz Quake hits (late on the 15th), you may not be all that concerned with the details.
Aug 1st and 2nd |
The 1st and 2nd are the leftovers of a brief storm that popped up the last few days of July. The waveform reaches a high point of 468 units on the 1st and is dropping to a low of 333 units late on the 2nd -- the intensity levels are moderate at best and falling off fast as the storm collapses. The harmonics in this waveform consist of H6, H12, H24 and H48 -- a typical mixture of constructive and positive energies with a twinge of stressful stuff in the background. Most of this energy is focused at 25-28 degrees (the Neptune knot planets) and 12 degrees of each zodiac sign -- check your own birthchart to see if your natal planets are in any of these hot zones. Although the knot planets are still technically in control, the aspects say another story. Mercury and Venus are aspecting Pluto these days and the Moon passes over Pluto on the 2nd. Emotions may be a bit raw, so talk things out if you can. On the other hand, Venus-Pluto aspects are a passionate influence on close relationships, so enjoy!
Aug 3rd to the 8th |
The 3rd to the 8th are a noisy transition period between the storms. The waveform never gets up much of a head of steam, ranging from 326 to 433 units of strength -- no "oomph!" here. The harmonics are mostly a fat H12, H48 and H24 -- this feels more scattered and less productive than before. The emphasized areas are 20-24, 1-4 and 8 degrees of each sign. There's not much going on these days. The lunar eclipse on the 5th is a pretty weak looking chart. The Moon passes over the Aquarius planets (Jupiter, Chiron, Neptune) the next day, triggering a moody shift in our attitudes for a few hours. Catch your second wind -- this slow time doesn't last long.
Aug 9th to the 13th |
The 9th to the 13th is a period when the next storm gathers strength and gets organized. The waveform is in the 351 to 455 unit region, still pretty moderate. The harmonics are a mixture of H6, H24, H12 and H48 -- still good overall, but the harsher harmonics are gaining strength. The areas of emphasis are 20-24, 15 and 8 degrees of each sign. Over these few days, we ramp up from weak, scattered energies to a powerful and focused energy very quickly -- you might feel knocked off your balance as the gears shift. Curiously, there's not a lot of aspects during this period, though Mars seems rather active. I guess that means get off your butt and get moving. By the time the storm seriously checks in, you'll be too busy to be planning anything, so get a head start now.
Aug 14th to the 24th |
The 14th to the 24th is the major storm of the month. It starts out with a Koz Quake (600+ units) on the 15-16th and continues in the Alert region for about 10 days. The waveform varies in strength from 408 to 609 units -- life is suddenly very busy! The harmonics are a complex mixture of H12, H4, H6 and some H24 and H48 -- the blend looks good, but it could go either way. The emphasized regions start at 23-26 degrees of each sign and gradually drift more to 28-30 degrees towards the end of this period. When you plot out the aspects connecting planets together, the only planet that is left out of this pattern is Pluto. With almost all the planets joining forces, this storm is furious and unpredictable. Granted, the backbone of this storm is the knot planets, but the outer planets often confound our expectations. Get ready to move and act -- this is a time for activity, not contemplation, even if you don't really understand what you're doing. Worry about the details later, when things slow down.
Aug 25th to the 28th |
The 25th to the 28th is a curious shift in the storm energies, as the peaks move away from the knot planets for a brief time and concentrate on Pluto instead. The waveform moves around in the 403 to 489 region -- considerably quieter and more tolerable than the main part of the storm. The harmonics are a fat H12, H48 and H4 -- the pattern is showing signs of breaking up and falling apart. The emphasized degrees are across the sign cusps (the boundaries between zodiac signs), from 29 degrees of one sign to 2 degrees of the next one. Zero degrees means Pluto, which forms a T-square with Mercury and Mars, with help from Venus, over the 25-26th. It may sound strange to say this, but a little Pluto action may feel like a nice change of pace from all the other outer planets combined. There's a tendency for egos to butt heads these days, so use your diplomacy skills to your best advantage. It's probably a good time for some solitary activity or research of a deeper nature. Frivolous activity is not all that satisfying now.
Aug 29th to the end of the month |
Finally, the energies quiet down again from the 29th to the end of the month. The intensity levels of this waveform (352 to 478 units) are back in the sane region once more. The harmonics are mainly H24, H4, H48 and H12 -- mostly stressful and disorganized. The focal areas are 2-4 and 24 degrees. There's almost nothing going on these days as the storm winds down at last. Catch your breath -- it's been a long ride. This slower moving energy carries over into early September.
