Energy Patterns for September 2004

Major Waveform Patterns:

Sep 1st to the 6th -- the end of August storm increases in strength.
Sep 7th to the 11th -- a little down time.
Sep 12th to the 21st -- a kind of lazy, hazy blast.
Sep 22nd to the end of the month -- downshift, but don't stop.

An online ephemeris for the month is available.

September is a rather straightforward mixture of storms separated by weak transition periods with no big surprises. The energies seen in the waveforms are stressful or static-y much of the time, but are generally mild in terms of strength and intensity. I see 4 major energy patterns this month.

Sep 1st to the 6th

The 1st to the 6th is a continuation of the mild storm that finished off August. If anything, the August storm is still intensifying, reaching a high of 532 units on the 2nd (and also going as low as 358), a low Koz Alert for the last day of the GOP convention. The harmonics in this waveform include H24, H12, H4 and H48 -- a complex mixture of frequencies that leans heavily to the difficult side. The main areas of emphasis in each zodiac sign are around 13 to 15 degrees and 24 to 25 degrees of each sign -- see if these hot areas affect the planets in your own birthchart. The core of this pattern centers on Jupiter and Saturn (separating for the last time from their year-long sextile aspect), with help from Venus and a stationary Mercury. Broad social themes are more important than merely personal concerns, especially as we finish up the political conventions and head into the fall political campaigns. Granted, with Mercury (communications) standing still, I doubt the political dialogue will be coherent or uplifting. The more constructive route is to forego the yelling and mudslinging and truly ask each other how we can work together -- fat chance, I know. Stationary Mercury points out a problem I've been noticing a lot lately, namely that we argue over vague ideas encapsulated in abstract, hot-button code words (like "freedom", "poverty", "unemployment" or "the war") instead of focusing on the complex realities behind these nebulous words. In short, we've stopped thinking and are simply reacting like rats in a laboratory maze (which is right where the spin doctors want us to be). The decisions ahead of us are too important to leave to the people in control. We can't abdicate our power -- we need to have our concerns heard.

The late August / early September storm reaches its climax on the morning of the 2nd and then starts falling off rather rapidly. This is also about the time that Mercury is officially standing still. The waveform peaks point towards a group of planets that includes Jupiter, Saturn, Chiron, Mercury, Venus and the Moon. Of the outer planets, only Pluto is even remotely connected with the main group.

This is, of course, the final day of the Republican Convention in New York City. The highlight of this last day is Bush's acceptance speech late in the evening. It's worth noting that Jupiter and Saturn are very active at this time, perhaps reflecting the importance of these events for the country and the world at large. However, there is no sign of higher spiritual forces at work, at least in any direct fashion. The week is still under the influence of Pluto standing still, which more than anything indicates how matters are reaching a breaking point and need to be revamped quickly. Any attempt to carry on with the status quo is apt to lead to even bigger problems in the near future, as the current situation can only be held together by force. Pluto often brings out a manipulative streak in people (not that conventions are a controlled or contrived event, right?). My big concern this week is that the street demonstrations, already promising to be huge, will get out of control and lead to a crackdown by authorities. I honestly don't expect this to be like Chicago 1968, with rioting in the streets and in the convention hall itself, but it could get touchy at times. Saturn and Chiron are lying across the Mercury-Pluto opposition in the USA's birthchart, a part of our national character that emphasizes the urge to control information and communication for manipulative purposes. So this is the wave that Bush is riding as he ascends the podium for his big speech. Given that Mercury is retrograde and that "W" has never been known for verbal fluency, his speech could come across with a strange tone that turns off many voters. He's riding a diminishing wave tonight.

Sep 7th to the 11th

The 7th to the 11th is a weak transition between the storms. The waveform cools off slightly to the 360 to 475 unit region -- moderate to lazy energies most of the time. Harmonics include H48, H12, H8 and considerable noise -- often challenging, but with opportunities for good outcomes if you persevere. The areas of focus in each sign include 18 to 20 degrees and 0 to 3 degrees. There's not much activity these days, but most of it includes Pluto, so lie low if you can. Passions and feelings are running high and in extreme cases could even lead to violence (Mars square Pluto on the 9th). Be more diplomatic than usual if you need to go about your business. However, I'd focus more on relaxing and recharging your batteries (if that's at all possible) than trying to get anything done during this time. The currents are unpredictable now.

Sep 12th to the 21st

The 12th to the 21st is the second storm of the month. While not as strong as the first one (386 to 507 units), the current storm pattern seems better organized and has more solid staying power. The harmonics are a complex mixture, generally on the rough side: H24, H12, H8, H6, H4 and H48. 24 to 27 degrees, 12 to 14 and 2 to 5 degrees are the strongest areas of each sign. The 3 most important planets in this pattern seem to be Venus, Jupiter and Neptune, a rather pleasant and dreamy group of influences, though Mars and Saturn are also active (not so fun). Despite the harsher harmonics, this may not be that rough of a time. The big problem is the lack of focus and attention to detail of these planets, as though you're kind of drifting through life this week. Try to stay on top of the nitty-gritty, however, as being lax now may lead to difficulties down the road. You may be feeling more optimistic and upbeat than usual, just be realistic about it. This is no time to get sloppy. Try to get some work done during this period -- results may be easier than you'd expect.

Sep 22nd to the end of the month

Finally, the 22nd to the end of the month is a quieter time again. It's a bit too organized to call it a true transition period, but it will probably have that typical "coming down" feeling of a transition. The waveform varies in strength from 337 to 473 units, low to moderate energies. The harmonics are a messy blend of H48, H12 and H24 -- chaotic and just as likely to be harsh as constructive. The energy is focused at 1 to 3, 23 to 29 and 14 to 18 degrees of each zodiac sign. The main action during the final week involves the mass stampede into Libra, starring Jupiter, Mars, Mercury and the Sun. By and large, that's not all that bad of a herd. It's upbeat, alert and full of energy, ready to do things and meet people. Despite the fact that this period is weaker than the preceding storm doesn't mean that much -- there's still plenty of "oomph!" to utilize for your own efforts. Just keep your chin up and stay (moderately) busy. This waveform continues into early October.
