Energy Patterns for January 2003

Major Waveform Patterns:

Jan 1st to the 2nd -- a weak and chaotic start to the year.
Jan 3rd to the 8th -- it's sorta like a storm... really.
Jan 9th to the 15th -- looks more ragged than usual.
Jan 16th to the 20th -- the clearest, strongest storm all month.
Jan 21st to the 27th -- a long, drifting time.
Jan 28th to the end of the month -- a dreamy, upbeat influence.

An online ephemeris for the month is available.

January is one of those months where the A5 Spectrum is not that useful of a tool. There doesn't seem to be much of a difference in the waveform from one period to the next -- there's little to distinguish the "storms" from the quiet periods. Further, within each period, the waveform is highly "volatile": changing quickly in strength, harmonics, shape, etc. on a daily basis. That makes it pretty difficult to say anything definitive about any of the periods. At some level, it may be easiest to imagine January as an average month that has been chopped up in a blender. Barring that, I'd break up the month into 6 energy patterns -- more or less.

Jan 1st to the 2nd

The 1st to the 2nd is a continuation of the weak transition period at the end of December. The waveform is rather moderate in intensity now, ranging between 370 and 466 units of aspect strength. The harmonics are mostly H48 and H12 now -- pretty noisy and cluttered, but somewhat pleasant and productive as well. The waves have a little bit of focus around 10 and 23 degrees of each zodiac sign (see if any of your planets are near these points). Frankly, this is a slow motion, even stagnant, kind of energy. You may be in a mental fog these days, since Mercury is reaching its retrograde station on the 2nd. I wouldn't start anything until after the new moon (also on the 2nd) anyway. What better time to be on vacation?

Jan 3rd to the 8th

The 3rd to the 8th is a sputtering, fractured looking storm pattern. It comes in like a blast on the 3rd, then slowly breaks up. This waveform is more energetic, bopping around in the 360 to 479 unit region. The harmonics include H24, H12 and H48 -- tending to the stressful and demanding end of the scale. The areas of emphasis lie at 24-27, 15 and 9 degrees of each zodiac sign. OK, now it's time to get busy. Just don't expect easy results. Be a bit wary in your dealings with others, since there's a subtle emotional undertow going on -- people may not always above board.

Jan 9th to the 15th

The 9th to the 15th is hard to read -- it has elements of both a storm and a transition period. It resembles the preceding storm period in many ways, but is clearly weaker and more chaotic, wilting down to the 332 to 435 unit levels. The harmonics are still H24, H12, H48. Points of emphasis are clustered around 18-21, 7 and 15 degrees of each sign. Here's a time that is challenging, but in a wimpy manner that leads to frustration more than anything else. One important grouping of planets in this pattern consists of Mars, Chiron and Uranus. This is a fairly explosive mixture and probably involves learning some lessons about throwing your weight around without thinking. A little self-awareness and some patience should take the sting out of that situation.

Jan 16th to the 20th

The 16th to the 20th is another brief storm, the most powerful all month. The waveform ranges from a low of 332 units to a Koz Alert of 537 units on the 19th -- this is more energy than we're used to handling this month, but nothing too extreme. The harmonics are a mix of H24, H48 and H2 -- still on the rough side. The peaks are sharply focused at 11 and 26 degrees of each sign. This is the strongest and purest waveform all month. There's a dreamy, upbeat mood to this period, as the energies are coming from planets such as Venus, Mercury, Jupiter and Neptune. You may also feel an upsurge of the need to get things done, as Mars enters fiery Sagittarius. Pace yourself, however, because your optimism may be out of touch with circumstances that act to limit you. Nonetheless, make the most of this useful time.

Jan 21st to 27th

The 21st to the 27th is a long, drifting influence that lacks direction or focus. The strength of the waveform drops off considerably, down to 340 to 441 levels. The harmonics are a confusing, messed up mixture of H48, H12, H6, H36 and even H8 -- a little bit of everything except the kitchen sink. Points of emphasis include 18, 12 and 4 degrees. There's a little bit of everything this week except a tailwind, so don't expect a lot of support from the universe for your actions. It may be somewhat emotionally volatile, especially around the 25th when Venus goes over Pluto. On the other hand, Mercury returns to forward motion on the 22nd, so your brains will slowly come out of their fog. Take it slow and easy, if you can.

Jan 28th to the end of the month

The 28th to the end of the month is another moderate storm pattern. The waveform picks up strength again, ranging from 386 to 492 units. The harmonics are mostly H24 and H48 now -- challenging and stressful influences indeed. The energies are mostly focused at 11 and 26 degrees. This is a fairly complex configuration of planets at work, involving two separate groups, so it's kind of hard to read this energy. One of the interesting elements of this storm is the Sun-Neptune conjunction on the 30th. It makes for a dreamy, optimistic mood overall, but it can also be ungrounded or simply misguided. Fortunately, other aspects counteract some of the negatives -- it's easy to avoid the worst. This waveform continues into early February.
